AP120108040235 300x188 Ron Pauls In It For The WinThere’s been lot of talk throughout this entire primary race about whether Ron Paul is running a paper candidacy, or if he’s actually trying to go all the way.  With a last place finish in South Carolina, and a current last place polling in Florida, it would seem that maybe he is just trying to make a statement.  Then again, maybe he’s just trying a different approach.

According to a spokesman for Ron Paul’s campaign, they plan to stay in the race until it is “mathematically impossible” to win.  So if you’re keeping count of the delegates, you know that will be quite some time.  From a Yahoo! News article:

“Paul’s team says they’re running to win, not to influence the platform or the selection of the party’s vice presidential nominee at the convention.

‘Absolutely,’ we will be at the convention, campaign manager Jesse Benton told Yahoo News. ‘We have a comprehensive plan to win 1,144 delegates. We’re going to scrap all the way.’”

While other candidates have bounced around in the polls, Ron Paul has consistently gained support.  If things keep going the way they are, he could end up accomplishing exactly what he’s set out to do.
